Blog 01 Introduction

 Hello Everyone,

My name is Yashree Vyas. I have a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California State University (2017) and currently, work as a lead software engineer at Fleetcor. This is my 4th course in the MIS program and I’m very excited to be a part of it. From this course, I’m hoping to gain a better understanding of business intelligence, data analytics, big data, and how to use these technologies in my work, so I can advance in my career and help make sound business decisions in the future. I have always been curious about data analytics and big data, which makes me very excited about this course on a personal level also.

Being in the tech industry, one thing that I have always been grateful for is the constant opportunity to grow and learn new technologies. This is one of the few fields that is incorporated almost everywhere be it hospitality, environment, healthcare, education, travel, and the list goes on and on...
The never stagnant nature of this field paired with the amount of difference it can create when we have the right data and meaningful interpretations are one of the things that caught my interest which I’m ready to explore in this course.

I live in Phoenix, AZ with my puppy baby Bella and when not working, I love dancing, going on long walks (Not in this AZ heat), painting, and binge-watching TV shows (if it was a legitimate career choice, I’d be a multi-millionaire ha-ha!). I’m so excited to be in this class with you all and can’t wait to read your introductions.

Tell me what interests you, your hobbies, and your interests in the comments!!

  1. Hi, Yashree! I'm also excited to learn more about big data and business intelligence. I agree that the tech industry is always changing. That is one of the main reasons I decided to pursue a data-related career and get out of providing hands-on healthcare. I'm considering working in healthcare IT and am taking a healthcare information systems course next semester to learn more. Watching TV is also one of my guilty pleasures :) I just finished the most recent season of Stranger Things.
